About Me

Loek Duys, cloud architect and technical lead

I do what I say and say what I do. That is the foundation of every engagement I take on. I am genuinely passionate about helping organisations solve hard technical problems, and it shows in the work.

I have spent the last 15 years in technical lead and decision-making roles. Most recently I was CTO of a business unit at Xebia, a leading Dutch technology consultancy, where I spent two years in that role and four years on the leadership team. I am not afraid to take responsibility when it counts. In fact, that is where I do my best work.

Today I work with organisations that need someone who can lead and deliver: cloud adoption, mission-critical software development, technical leadership on complex projects, and coaching teams to raise their game. I work hands-on alongside your team (not through layers of sub-contractors), scoped to a clear outcome and accountable for the result.

AI has changed how I build software, and I have embraced it fully. I use spec-driven delivery (plans, stories, and ADRs authored upfront) with GitHub Copilot as a co-developer throughout. The output is reliable, well-documented software that your team and AI agents can maintain and extend independently.

I am equally comfortable explaining a technical decision to a CTO who needs the business case and walking through an architectural tradeoff with a senior engineer. I adapt to the room and to the problem.

Talks & Community

I speak at international developer conferences on Azure, cloud architecture, AI-driven software delivery, and software security, covering both the technical depth and the organisational reality of getting these things to work in practice.

Microsoft has recognised my work with ten Microsoft MVP awards (Azure category), and two DevTech MVP awards since 2025. I bring 25 years of hands-on experience in cloud, software engineering, and digital transformation, and I am still learning.
